Member & realm status & stuff
Hi all! I was first admitted as a rogue - Scarlet. Then began leveling a Priest - Apothecary. I app'd to the WowGate server as a Moderator, and was accepted with a GM level 1. That means I had to delete every toon under that account and use it for Admin only. I had to create a seperate account for Play.
I started a new account (after having 5 level 70's, but hey it's the price ya pay). Then Nethersong started the nukes/DDOS (Denial of Service). Then the server was *ALWAYS* down. ALWAYS. I popped onto Nethersong (the only advertisers I muted as a Moderator), just to see what's so special o'er yonder.
A GM named Bless came to me, made me level 70, gave me 5,000 gold, and a ton of rep - plus a Spectral Tiger mount (!!!!!) . Mmmmkay. I start a new toon, then a dude Name of Riks /w's me offering to power level me. Kk, cool. I play like I'm not me.... But Riks and Bless tickle that part o'me brain that says they're the same person. Then Bless pops up and gives a level 12 toon a Spectral Tiger mount! (!!!!!!!).
After 3 days of randomly popping on, I only ever see Riks (and his Riks***** alts) and Bless (Bless is on more than any GM on WoWGate...but still....) ....
So, WoWGate is mechanically awesome, but half the GM staff is never online, and they can't deflect a simple DDOS packet attack. <- that's fricken easy defense, but never-the-mind.....
Nethersong is also mechanically awesome, but apparently has me and....that dudes 2 accounts...me and those 2 guys...errrr....
AND....Dun Dun DUHN! 'Coming back soon!'
When the dust settles, I would ask that you tell me where to play. These servers wage wars, and end up denying US! WE Don't play, we look for yet another server.
A server where we can play, and then play a part for endgame and achieve something for a new toon. Maybe as a group. Social achievement. FFS WoW is a Social Media. But they're all about them and their "servers" <- notice:undercaps.

Sorry for not responding to this topic earlier, I needed a little time to think about everything that you said there, and also to think about my own response, not just because of seriousness that your words carry, but also because I'm writing in my secondary language :)
Basically, you are right, we should think of our self because that is about same what server owners are doing. However, we are not going to jump to a conclusions after one ddos attack, it's a world of private servers and those things are happening every few months and if we are going to switch servers after one ddos we're never going to settle our self anywhere. You also touched one, in my opinion, much more important issue, and that is over-helpful GMs.
Personally I don't blame them, they are probably used to work with players who have never been engaged in any shape or form of serious and organised raiding, and some of conversations that my second in command, Shou, had with randoms all over WoWGate are just proving that. But fact remains that they really are trying to be helpful and they are doing it too much. Shou and my self have made clear statement that we do not want any sort of help from GMs, and if we are going to stay on this server it is not going to be because they give us any sort of benefits.
But most important part of my decision to (still) stay on server is to pay respect to all our members who have invested hefty amount of their time in preparations for incoming raids (probe raid 21st december, regular schedule starting in 2nd week of 2015)
